Hardin-Central cross country coach Jenni Scott has a nucleus of runners she expects to help lead the Bulldogs as they prepare to open the season Sept. 1 at Salisbury.

Scott is entering her fifth year leading the Hardin-Central program and fifth year coaching cross country overall. The Bulldogs return two varsity letter winners, senior Valerie Gabel and sophomore Kynzlie Vroom.

Gabel is among three runners Scott expects to provide leadership this season, along with Alaina Charlons and Hunter Parker.

Gabel spent her summer at boot camp after enlisting in the Army National Guard. Scott has seen the experience make an impact on Gabel’s confidence and believes she has set a positive example for her teammates.

Charlons has emerged as another leader through her athletic ability and quickness, while Parker has shown promise with his perseverance and speed.
