Commission weighs bridge projects on next funding round

Ray County commissioners are preparing to select two bridge projects from 13 eligible structures for the county’s next round of funding applications.

Great River Engineering (GRE) Project Managers Zachary Olivas and Zeke Peterson and Vice President Lindsey Chaffin recently met with commissioners to discuss the next round of funding through the Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Off-System (BRO) Program.

Commissioners also received updates on four bridge projects already underway in Ray County. See Page 7 for more on those projects.

The program uses federal funding to help local governments replace or rehabilitate poor-condition bridges located on local roads outside the federal-aid highway system. Projects are selected regionally, with local agencies submitting eligible bridges for consideration.
