Records trace alleged financial losses involving elderly couple

Investigators allege power-of-attorney documents, now at the center of new forgery charges, helped give a Hardin man access to an elderly couple’s finances before more than $1.6 million in cash losses occurred.

Trenton V.M. Hansuld, of Hardin, recently received two additional felony forgery charges involving a Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care and/or Health Care Directive and a Missouri Durable Financial Power of Attorney, both dated on or about Nov. 21, 2022. The charges stem from the same financial exploitation investigation that previously led to charges against Trenton and his wife, Kirsten Hansuld in 2025.
