County bridge projects advance through planning, bidding

Several Ray County bridge projects are moving forward, with work ranging from property acquisition and design to bidding and construction preparation.

Great River Engineering (GRE) Project Manager Zachary Olivas recently provided commissioners with updates on projects involving Lexington and Myers roads, as well as West 84th and West 216th streets.

Commissioners also discussed the next round of Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Off-System (BRO) funding and the county’s selection of two projects to submit for consideration, which can be found on Page 1.

The Lexington Road bridge removal project in Henrietta is estimated to cost $500,000 and calls for removing the existing 12-span structure over Norfolk Southern and BNSF railroad facilities, East Second and East First streets. The approach roadways will be permanently closed.
