pulled off a hat trick at the I-70 Conference championships.
The Orrick junior won three individual boys events at the April 29 varsity track and field competition at Sweet Springs, hosted by St. Paul Lutheran of Concordia: the 110-meter high hurdles, the 300 intermediate hurdles and the triple jump. He ran the 110s in 16.4 seconds and the 300s in 43.02, and he leaped 12.35 meters in the triple jump.
Harris helped the Bearcats place second in the boys team standings with 113 points – 12 points behind meet champion Lone Jack and 2.5 points ahead of St. Paul Lutheran. Overall, the Orrick boys won four events. They also won the 3,200 relay in 9:33.16.
Led by Anela Fletcher, the Orrick girls placed seventh with 43 points. The sophomore won the long jump by leaping 4.79 and took second in the 100 high hurdles with her time of 18.77.
Fletcher was one of two top-three finishers for the Orrick girls. Addison Chapman, a first-year high schooler, leaped 9.55 for second in the triple jump.
