‘Citizen of Service’ recognition for teens
RICHMOND – Genevieve Keighley, Kassie McGinnis and Ashely Stewart are each $250 richer.
The three teens are this year’s recipients of the Ray County Fair Harold Strobel “Citizen of Service” Award. The award consists of a $250 check.
Frazer Letzig, who helped present the awards, said recipients may use the money toward whatever will help them achieve “a better life.” Letzig is confident this year’s recipients will do that.
“Let’s put it this way: With the level of kids that have been involved (and been willing) to take the initiative to write something about themselves – or have someone write something about themselves – they’re … not going to squander the money,” he said.
Letzig said award recipients must be 4-H or FFA members. Other requirements, as stated in the award qualifications, include being 16-18 years old, showing a “willingness to serve his/her community or club” and exhibiting “overall good character.”
