The Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce raised a toast to more success to the community and business owners in the future during its 75th anniversary celebration Oct. 20 at Branded Steakhouse Event Center.

Halloween is just around the corner, and though the holiday is about dressing up, saying “trick or treat” and telling scary stories, the Teal Pumpkin Project brings a new take on the holiday. The Teal Pumpkin Project involves setting a pumpkin painted teal or blue around your doorstep or in the front of your home.

James Gorham, economic development director for the City of Richmond, said nine homeowners had participated in a restoration program, with more than $21,000 invested into those properties, during the Oct. 11 City Council meeting.

Mixing and mingling were performed at the Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce after-hours event, hosted by Ray County Memorial Hospital (RCMH). RCMH’s new CEO, Jeff Bloemker, introduced himself to the community members and showed support for the event.
