District maintenance jobs continue

Body

RICHMOND – School district maintenance workers have plenty to do, starting with a “deep cleaning,” Buildings and Grounds Director Steve Minnick says while walking along a quiet hallway at Richmond High School.

In one of dozens of classrooms, custodian Scott Russell scrubs a mop across the tile floor. He has faced a couple of disasters in the past year. The first involved fighting the double-flood of 2019, as he worked with Hardin’s volunteer sandbag militia. Now, he does his part to prevent the spread of the coronavirus by cleaning classrooms.

“They came in the building,” he said, while talking through the broken door. “They got all the knives and stuff out of the display case that I’ve got on my counter.”
