The American Southdown Breeders’ Association (ASBA) has appointed Ray Countian to its national board for junior members. Weirz is among 11 junior board members for the association, which has existed since 1882 and works to promote and develop the Southdown breed of sheep.

Controversy surrounds the impending eviction of Sunshine Lake residents continues as the Ray County Commissioners announced during a recent meeting the site will be converted into a primitive campground at a future date. As a result, both permanent and weekend residents will be required to vacate the area.
