RICHMOND – Excelsior Springs and others school districts across Ray County may not be able to use all of the money set aside for them, Ray County Presiding Commissioner Bob King said. The county disburses funds based on receipts for COVID-19-related expenses submitted by local government entities, he said. “We are in the process of doing that,” King said. “Some (distributions) are piecemeal and some are pretty good size.” Ray County likely set aside more Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act funding for schools than schools will use, he said. “We still have quite a bit left,” King said. “It’s going to be tough to get it all out.” The same is true for the roughly $1.8 million earmarked for cities and other taxing districts across the county. Overall, the county received $2.7 millio and set aside about $900,000 to reimburse all school districts in the county for COVID-19-related expenses. Ray County requires receipts to support expenses.
