Ray County expands road system with seven additions
The Ray County Road System is expanding to include seven roads and road segments within the Richmond Special Road District.
County commissioners recently approved the final acceptance of four roads and road segments in Richmond Country Estates and three in Appleberry Acres after the Richmond Special Road District had previously accepted the roads.
Richmond Special Road District representative Jack Marrant explained the first group included the remainder of Airfield Lane, East Piper Lane, Grumman Drive and Cessna Circle in Richmond Country Estates. The remaining three petitions covered Cowboy Court, Cowgirl Lane and a portion of Santa Fe in Appleberry Acres.
Richmond Special’s board had already voted to accept the roads before formal requests for county acceptance came before commissioners. The road acceptance petitions state that after acceptance by the appropriate road district, the requests are forwarded to the county commission for final acceptance into the County Road System.
West Piper Lane was the only road in the Richmond Country Estates area shown on the plat that was not included in the petitions. Marrant explained the road essentially functions as a drive- way, with property owners maintaining the area, making it impractical for the district to maintain.
