A couple of adoption cases I heard about recently got me thinking about the topic of adoption as it relates to our faith.

There are all kinds of reasons that can lead to adoption, but the bottom line is when an adoption takes place, the parental rights of one or both of the biological parents of a child are terminated by the government and transferred to another person. From a legal standpoint, once a child is adopted, he or she is the son or daughter of the person adopting them.

Because this is such a momentous occurrence, the government takes great care to ensure everything is done properly.

For us as Christians, even though he had nothing to do with our creation or existence, the devil desperately wants to claim us as his own. He uses very powerful weapons to get us to believe God does not want us. He constantly reminds us of our sin. He stokes the fear of death in our hearts. He entices us to follow his easy, “funfilled” road to eternal destruction.
