Sheriff plans more patrols, investigations
RICHMOND – Ray County Sheriff elect Scott Childers plans staff changes to increase public safety.
“I feel very good about the people I’ve brought in and also the people I’ve retained,” he said.
Change will be good for the public and staff, Childers said.
“We’ve got a lot of places where we can put (staff) and, after some time, you need to give people a chance so they don’t get burned out,” staff said.
DETECTIVE WORK
Childers hired a person to serve primarily as a detective within his office.
“I’ve got a detective now in place and I’m very excited,” he said. “With as much crime as we do have in this county, a detective is very important to have.”
The “detective” term might have meant something else to the office in the past, but Childers said, under his leadership, the detective must focus on solving crimes.
