Richmond Middle School (RMS) released a list of 14 students with perfect attendance in the first semester. RMS Principal Staci Maddux explained the importance of perfect attendance at the local middle school “Perfect attendance to me means those students want to excel, and they like school. I’ve worked really hard to get the staff to connect with the students and build a relationship so the students want to come to school. A lot of these students are outgoing and responsible,” said Maddux. Rewarding perfect attendance is a way to reinforce a great life skill. Kids should get into the habit of showing up every day. It will help them when they’re going to work. A reward system can also make students feel good about themselves, according to www.timeforkids. com. “It makes me feel wonderful knowing that’s important to them,” said Maddux.
