Missouri House honors local WWII veteran
Nearly 80 years after a young sailor left home for the final months of World War II, his service was formally recognized at the state level, transforming personal history into legislative record.
The honor was presented to Ray County resident Graham C. Myers Jr. through a resolution from the Missouri House of Representatives recognizing his military service during the war.
Born July 31, 1927, Myers served as a Seaman First Class and tanker’s helper with the Asiatic Pacific Fleet attached to the USS PC San Diego for 14 months from June 1945 to August 1946. For his service, he received the Victory Medal.
The resolution also recognizes the role of his family in supporting that service and specifically names his daughter, Beverly Myers, for the love and support she has provided throughout his life.
State Rep. Terry Thompson presented the resolution in person after previously honoring Myers on Veterans Day.
