Local school district hosts substitute recruiting workshop

In a proactive approach to increase the number of substitute teachers for the Richmond R-XVI School District, the Richmond R-XVI Central Office Staff hosted a Substitute Teacher Recruiting Workshop in January. The event, held at the Richmond R-XVI Central Office Building, aimed to educate, equip and prepare potential candidates for certification and skills needed to become a Missouri Certified Substitute teacher. Richmond R-XVI Board Secretary Nicole Yoakum led and organized the event with over eighteen registered participants. Yoakum offered her services for on-site state registration, fingerprinting, background check and guidance through the coursework accompanying the substitute teaching program. The secretary believes hosting the event two or three times each year will provide patrons and candidates the opportunity to expedite the certification process through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and build up substitute candidates. “We recognize the vital role…
