First-graders learn nutrition
RICHMOND – Dear Elementary School firstgrade classes, including Haley Shelton’s class, received a visit from the University of Missouri Extension’s Chandra Carey.
The extension assigns educators to schools across Missouri to teach various topics, with Carey giving nutrition information.
During her six visits, Carey taught the importance of nutrition. She taught about the five food groups, being active and how to avoid spreading germs.
“Did you know you can get milk from a camel? Did you know that soy is a protein plant? We enjoy the opportunity for MU Extensions to visit our school and teach our students an important life lesson,” Dear information stated.
