Commissioners talk THC isomers

Since marijuana was legalized in late 2022, area residents have tackled the issue of the drug falling into the hands of minors. A handful of Ray and Clay Countians recently met with Ray County Commissioners Dave Powell and Billy Gaines to discuss Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) isomers. Powell and Gaines were made aware that THC isomers above the legal percentage are being sold in the county. Ray County Prosecuting Attorney Camille Johnston was on hand for questions. First Baptist Church Richmond Pastor Willie Isaacson said certain THC products read .3% or less, which is the legal THC limit according to the 2018 Farm Bill. Yet some products, after testing, have more than .3%. “The level of THC in these products is a whole lot higher than what the fine print on the back says. It says less than point .3%, which is the Farm Bill limit on what they can, what they’re supposed to be able to do with it, but they’re chemically altering it,” said Isaacson.
