Christmas radio play a hit!

THE RAY COUNTY Community Arts Association recently hosted its annual December show, “A Christmas Carol, the Radio Play”, written by Joe Landry. Director McDavitt Rogers decided to go with a live radio play for the viewers. The show was performed last week at the Richmond Farris Theatre. “It went well, and the audience that attended seemed to enjoy the show,” said Rogers. The story, based on Charles Dickens’ “ A Christmas Carol”, is brought to life as a live 1940s radio broadcast, complete with vintage commercials for fruitcake (extra-fancy), and the magic of live sound effects and musical underscoring. Many actors bring dozens of characters to the stage, as the familiar story unfolds: Three ghosts take Ebenezer Scrooge on a thrilling journey to teach him the true meaning of Christmas. “What I liked most about the show was watching a small cast create and showcase multiple characters for the many roles each played.
