In celebration of National Women’s History Month, the Ray County Genealogical Association (RCGA) member and historian Jarodd Stansberry presented information about the Arnold Sisters – Hazel, Thelma and Dorothy Arnold of Ray County. Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture and society and has been observed annually in March in the United States since 1987, according to history. com Women’s History Month is important because it gives people a chance to recognize the history, accomplishments and importance of women in our world. By learning about these women, girls can feel empowered to also be important in society, according to www.womenofcincy. org. Stansberry explained the three ladies were born to R.D. and Mollie (Lake) Arnold of Ray County. R.D. was a Knoxville farmer until World War I, when he moved his family to Richmond, buying a house on East Main. He became a coal miner, working for 3W Coal Company between Henrietta and Richmond. …
