Winning streak ends for RHS netters
Richmond’s longest winning streak in varsity girls tennis duals in roughly a decade has ended.
A 7-2 Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC)-East Division loss to Carrollton Monday at Maurice Roberts Park snapped a three-dual streak. That streak began Sept. 22 with a 5-4 Senior Night win over Knob Noster. A 6-1 win Sept. 23 over visiting Holden and a 6-4 victory Sept. 24 at Lexington followed.
Richmond last won three straight duals in 2018, when the Spartans went 7-6 overall, Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) records state. The Spartans also won three straight in 2017 and 2014.
Had Richmond defeated Carrollton Monday, it would have been the Spartans’ first four-dual winning streak since 2011, according to the MSHSAA website.
The latest three-dual streak reflected the improvements the Spartans have made this season in “moving the ball around and seeing where things are at,” according to Richmond coach Zachary Baldauf. It reflected improvements in other ways, such as…
