Orrick varsity 8-man football coach Kirk Thacker did some experimenting Sept. 22, when his Bearcats hosted Northwest of Hughesville/Otterville for homecoming. Thacker’s experimenting included running a spread offense. It also included some lineup tweaks. “The experiment was not a success,” he said Monday during practice. Or rather, the experiment during the first half of the 54-14 defeat was unsuccessful, Thacker suggested. That first half included yielding a safety and throwing three interceptions, including a pick six, he recalled. And that half ended with Orrick trailing 40-0. But Thacker pointed out that the Bearcats played a 14-14 second half.
