Terry, Spartans get first dual victory

Brett Terry has his first dual win as Richmond’s boys tennis coach. Terry, who got his first dual win as Richmond’s girls tennis coach in September 2022 against Lexington, secured the “W” on April 13, when the Spartans thumped Cameron 8-1 at Maurice Roberts Park. Getting win No. 1 was a “pretty cool thing,” Terry said. He attributed the victory in part to experience. “Obviously, we’ve played a lot more matches and the boys are getting comfortable,” Terry said. Another key was German exchange student Felix De Hesselle, Richmond’s No. 1 singles player, according to Terry. “I think it helps when they have someone at the top to kind of look up to and aspire to be like,” Terry said. “Felix is a pretty darn good tennis player.” De Hesselle helped the Spartans vanquish the Dragons with an 8-2 singles win over Spencer Pratt.
