Spartans rebound from Week 5 loss with Week 6 blowout
The Spartans took out some of their frustrations from their 18-12 Week 5 loss to Lafayette County of Higginsville during their Sept. 30 homecoming game with Carrollton.
“We definitely played with a chip on our shoulder after losing to Higginsville,” Richmond senior running back Aidan Ivison said.
Sparked by that “chip,” the Spartans pummeled the Trojans 64-0 in Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC) East Division 11-man varsity football action. It was 56-0 at halftime.
Unofficially, Ivison helped the Spartans channel their anger by rushing for 126 yards and five touchdowns on 13 carries – all during the first half.
“It was a lot of fun,” he said. “(The) linemen were making really big holes and it was easy get through almost untouched every, single touchdown. Barely had to break any tackles.”
