Kail Farnan is representing Richmond on the links in his final season of high school sports. He’s also representing the Spartans on the baseball diamond. “(He’s) giving us a little pitching depth on days that … we’re going to need him,” Spartans varsity baseball coach Zach McGill said after Richmond’s 15-0 loss to Benton of St. Joseph (see related story). “I know he’s doing golf, so we (have) got to work around golf because that’s his main sport, but on days when he’s available, he’ll be with us.” One day Farnan was available was April 4, when the Spartans faced Benton at Southview Park. He was among three pitchers utilized by McGill in the threeinning defeat. Jacob Lieberknecht started, lasting 1 1/3 innings. Leyton Lee pitched 1 1/3 relief innings. Farnan finished, retiring the only batter he faced with a fly out to center field. Farnan also pitched during Richmond’s 7-4 junior varsity loss to Benton.
