Richmond boys honor senior quartet; roll to victory

For Brent Behler, working with seniors Isaac Douglas, Gabe Johnson, Tristan McCoy and Kris Outersky in his first season as Richmond head varsity basketball coach has been a joy. “I’ve enjoyed all the kids I’ve coached and these kids work hard,” Behler said. “They’re dedicated to what we’re doing. And they bought in pretty early. … No complaints. … They’re good kids.” On Feb. 7, those “good kids” were honored as part of the Senior Night festivities that took place between the girls and boys varsity games with visiting Holden. Three of the four responded by helping the Spartans cruise to a 74-44 Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC)-East Division win. “I’m excited that they got their win on Senior Night,” Behler said. Johnson, a four-year member of the program, said winning on Senior Night felt fine. But he also downplayed its significance. “It’s just another win,” Johnson said.
