Orrick girls hoopsters see confidence boost
On July 13, Orrick varsity girls basketball coach Jonathan Kinder and assistant coach Chase Sims noticed a change in their Bearcats.
In scrimmaging against Hardin-Central that day during a combined practice in the Orrick High School gym, the Bearcats were more confident than they had been during a June combined practice hosted by Hardin-Central, Kinder and Sims agreed.
“We’ve seen such a big jump from the beginning of the summer to where we’re at even now – and then, (there has been) an even bigger jump in my eyes from that first game-like scrimmage we did compared to this one. … They had a lot more confidence in themselves in shooting. … They felt better in our offense,” Sims commented. “They … ran fastbreaks … (amazingly) today. … We’re really impressed with their effort, and … we’re excited for the season and for some more game-like experience.”
