OHS volleyballers look to ride confidence boost
Orrick’s varsity volleyball team got a jolt of confidence during summer offseason training that should serve the Bearcats well this fall, according to second-season coach Mackenzie Ketterman.
“They did really … (well) over the summer,” Ketterman said Aug. 13 in the Orrick High School gym. “We … set up a whole bunch of scrimmages against some other teams. We ended up only losing about three out of the eight that we had set up.”
Those confidence-boosting results are in keeping with the progress Ketterman has seen in the Bearcats from last season to this one, she suggested.
“We kind of know where to start this year and what we need to work on,” Ketterman said.
One area the Bearcats have worked on is passing, according to junior Addison Chapman.
“We were struggling with getting our … (passes) to the setter last year,” Chapman said.
