Farnan tosses Sr. Night no-no
When Richmond held Senior Night for varsity baseball, Spartans coach Zach McGill turned to one of his seniors to pitch.
That senior, Bryer Farnan, responded by posting a no-hitter.
Farnan tossed his no-no in 66 pitches, helping the Spartans cruise past Lexington 10-0 in five innings April 24 at Southview Park in Missouri River Valley Conference-East Division play. A one-out, fourth-inning walk to Hunter Meyer precluded Farnan from pitching a perfect game.
“Bryer did a fantastic job of commanding the zone tonight,” McGill said. “He’s shown flashes of that early in the year. But tonight was, by far, his best. He was on his game. It just shows what happens when you can be efficient in the strike zone and you trust the guys behind you.”
To Farnan’s recollection, it was his first-ever no-hitter. “It feels good,” he said. “It’s kind of a weird feeling, since I’ve never done it, but it definitely feels good.”
