Aggies look to get loss, coach off their backs
HARDIN – A win over Braymer/ Breckenridge Friday night at Braymer in 8-man football will get last week’s loss to Liberal/Bronaugh off the Aggies’ backs.
It will get Norborne Hardin-Central varsity coach Kirk Thacker off their backs, too.
“I haven’t been very nice today to them,” Thacker cracked during practice Monday at Hardin-Central.
When Thacker is grumpy, the Aggies are grumpy, junior quarterback/defensive back Brayden Schick said.
“It’s kind of like, if your father’s not really in a good mood, you’re not. … To all of us, he is our father, in a way,” Schick said.
NHC’s performance during its 46-34 Oct. 2 road loss prompted “Papa” Thacker’s grumpiness to his Aggies.
“We just flat didn’t get off the bus and play,” he said. “And they … took it to us, and they got more and more confident as the game went on. … I said it was like (watching the TV show) ‘Shark Week’ where there’s chum the water – and we were the chum.”
