Aggies edge ’Cats in thriller
Norborne Hardin-Central (NHC) varsity 8-man football coach Andrew Watson has his first win over Missouri Highway 10 rival Orrick.
Watson, now in his third season with NHC, got the victory when the Aggies edged the Bearcats 46-42 Oct. 6 at Orrick. The Bearcats won the 2021 and 2022 meetings 80-34 and 50-28, respectively.
A TD pass and a defensive stand late in the fourth quarter helped the Aggies (4-3 overall) get the victory. Quarterback Zach Deitch connected with Brody Fifer for the touchdown, Watson said.
“(The) offensive line did a great job protecting Zach as he was able to drop back and Brody got open, and (it was) probably one of the best balls Zach’s thrown as a high school starter,” he recalled Monday by phone. “He put it right on the money, and then, Fifer did the rest.”
