Aggies ‘don’t want to lose again’ in Week 1
Norborne Hardin-Central (NHC) running back/linebacker Kalel Bowman is an athlete of few words.
Or at least he is where NHC’s regularseason opener in varsity 8-man football is concerned.
The Aggies will open Friday at Sweet Springs. When asked for comments about the opener, the Hardin-Central senior replied: “I don’t want to lose again. That’s all I (have) got to say.”
It’s a sentiment shared by Andrew Watson, who’s in his fourth season as NHC coach and 0-3 against Sweet Springs. The Aggies lost to the Greyhounds twice in 2022 – their season opener and in districts. NHC dropped its 2023 opener 32-20 as part of a 4-6 campaign.
“Lot of respect for their coaches, their players and how Sweet Springs does things,” Watson said following an Aug. 14 practice at Hardin-Central. “(They’ve) always got great kids, but I’d like to be on the winning side of those guys this year. And I’m hoping, with the work we’ve done, we’ve got the kids to do it this year.”
