Dear Editor, I am sharing the ballot information for the upcoming April election: https://raycountymo. com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Ray-MO-040726-Publication.pdf Historically, this election has seen very low turnout. Between spring farming, the end of the school year and tax deadlines, civic duties often take a backseat to daily life. However, this year there are six ballot issues requesting new or renewed taxes.

Carrying grief together

Most people talk about grief from the inside, describing the way it feels to lose someone and how they personally work through it. Those stories are important, but lately I have realized there is another part of grief that doesn’t get as much attention. It is the experience of watching the people you love grieve at the same time you are trying to understand your own loss.

Dear Editor, In the Feb. 6, 2026, edition of the Richmond Daily News, Ray County Commissioners listed several areas of potential budget shortfalls, including infrastructure repairs on bridges, even with MoDOT 80% grant support through programs such as BRO. They also mentioned funding pressure for Ray County related to law enforcement and the jail, emergency management, hospital issues and necessary improvements for the Ray County Museum.
