William Howard “Bill” Sneed, age 89, of Orrick, died on Saturday, Sep. 3, 2022, at his son’s residence surrounded by his loving family. 

Bill was born on Aug. 10, 1933, in Huntsville, the son of Guy LeRoy and Bonnie (Rothwell) Sneed. He was united to marriage to Frances Dean Vance of Orrick on June 14, 1952, she preceded him in death on Aug. 21, 2004.   

Survivors include son, Guy Sneed and his wife Karen of Excelsior Springs; brother, Jerry Sneed and his wife Dora of Moberly; five grandchildren, Brent (Loralei) Sneed, Tim (Joyce) Shaw, Angela (Mike) Lancaster, Tabitha Sneed, and Justin (Heather) Sneed; nine great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; one son, Gary Sneed; and sister, Sharon White. 

Bill was reared and educated in Huntsville and graduated from Huntsville High School. In 1951, he came to Orrick on the railroad crew to help repair things during the flood and in 1952, he moved to Orrick. Bill worked for General Motors in the body shop for 30 years and was a proud member of the United Auto Workers Association. Bill was an avid hunter and enjoyed deer, turkey, and coon hunting and especially quail. He was of the Christian faith.

Visitation followed by graveside services will be held on Friday, Sep. 9, 2022, with visitation to be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond with graveside services to follow at 11:30 a.m. at South Point Cemetery East of Orrick.
