Kelly Lyn Downs
Kelly Lyn Downs, 60, of Richmond, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, at Liberty Hospital.
Kelly was born on Oct. 25, 1961, in Kansas City, the daughter of Jackie Leo “Jack” and Mary Elizabeth “Beth” (Richardson) Tracy. She was united in marriage to William Robert “Bill” Downs of Orrick on Dec. 10, 1983; he survives of the home.
Additional survivors include her parents, Jack and Beth Tracy of Independence; son, Peyton Downs of Richmond; daughter, Shelby Downs of Richmond; two grandchildren, Ava Downs and Aiden Downs; two sisters, twin sister, Shelly Ann (Frank) Krysa and Sheryl (Les) Cobb, both of Independence; brother, Mike (Sarah) Tracy of Becker, MN; sister-in-law, Terri Clark of Kansas City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Carlton and Mary Willa Richardson; paternal grandmother, Mildred Tracy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Virginia Downs; and three sisters-in-law, Pat Good, Debbie Good, and Pam Misner.
Kelly was reared and educated in Richmond and graduated from Richmond High School in the class of 1980. She worked for Ray County Hospital in the Dietary Department, a job she started as a teenager, and worked there for over 20 years. Kelly also worked for the Richmond School District at all four locations as a cashier and a caregiver for the Adventure Club childcare before and after school. She retired in 2018. Kelly loved watching the Osmond’s, especially Donny, anything to do with the Osmond’s she collected; she actually met them, and she was known as the Crying Woman from Richmond because she couldn’t quit crying when she met Donny. She enjoyed her family and lived for her kids and grandkids. Kelly was a big animal lover and had two cats, Sunny and Hazel, and three dogs, Libby, Luna, and Willow.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Southpoint Cemetery, near Orrick.
