JEFFERSON CITY – Deer, coyotes and other wildlife are evident in rural Missouri and pose a danger when jumping in front of vehicles. The Missouri Department of Transportation reminds motorists to be prepared for the sudden appearance of wild animals on all roads during the cooler fall months.
RICHMOND – Laura Allen is teaching a new course, small engines, at Richmond High School. The course has 13 students, five donated engines from Briggs & Stratton, nine donated engines from Kohler Engines and more than $9,000 in tools and equipment.
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – A full-bodied moonshiner huffs and puffs into the corn liquor jug resting on the crook of his right arm to create a throaty, wolfing sound. A sallow-eyed man, coal dust under his nails, rakes calloused fingers over a zincridged washboard.
RICHMOND – Racist comments targeting his Chinese daughter left a father concerned about the response from Richmond Middle School officials. The incident is the second in two weeks.
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – With Halloween roughly a week away, activities are being posted throughout the bi-county area and, for those who like to drive around to look at decorations, there are plenty of houses showing holiday spirit.
