The Richmond Rotary recently awarded various grants to 37 local organizations following a record-breaking fundraiser in February. The organizations include Humane Society of Ray County, Special Needs Services of Ray County and Community At Play, Shirkey Hospice, Bridge of Hope, Ray County Senior Center, Richmond Elementary PTO, Dale Patton 4-H Club, Richmond Spartans Youth Football League, Ray County Fair Inc, Ray County Fair, Hardin Recreation Association, Richmond Youth Wrestling Club, Spartan Touchdown Club Inc, Mack Attack, City of Richmond - Parks & Recreation, Richmond Chamber of Commerce, Richmond Fire Department, Richmond Beautification Club, Ray County Community Arts Association, Richmond Police Department, Food Pantry of Richmond United Methodist Church, GAP Assistance program of Ray County Inc, Wilderness Camping & Retreat Center, Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome Foundation, Ray County 4-H, Salvation Army Emergency EDS Team, Amazing Comfort Ministries, Guys & Gals 4-H Club, Ray County Coalition, Missouri Rural ALS Support Group, Richmond Education Foundation and Ray County Memorial Hospital.

Warrants were issued for two area residents for non-appearance in court. Nickols A warrant has been issued for a Leavenworth woman who allegedly committed a crime in Excelsior Springs.

Ray County Commissioners approved the purchase of four clocks for the courthouse during a recent meeting. The commissioners were notified during a June meeting that all four courthouse clocks were broken and needed to be removed.

A settlement agreement has been finalized with former Ray County Sheriff Scott Childers, according to Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey. Childers resigned as sheriff earlier this week and was deprived of his Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification, as part of the agreement, which will prevent him from serving as a law enforcement officer in Missouri.
