Youth earn big at fair auction

Supporters packed the sale barn during the 2025 Ray County Fair livestock auction, where dozens of youth exhibitors reaped the rewards of months of care and commitment to their animals. The auction generated a combined $88,353.45 in sale and floor prices, according to totals included in official auction records. Premium bids totaled $58,306.05. Exhibitors brought a wide variety of animals through the ring, including steers, hogs and small livestock projects. Each entry received a floor price based on weight, and many received additional premium bids from local businesses, families and individuals. Among the highest overall earners was Lynlee Calvert, whose 1,225-pound steer brought in a total of $12,372.50. Goppert Financial Bank and the Wood Shed partnered to purchase the animal, paying a $2,572.50 floor price and an additional $9,800 in sale value. Calvert also received a premium of $7,227.50.
