Veterans receive standing ovation at RHS
The Richmond High School (RHS) hosted a veterans program and luncheon to recognize local veterans. Students piled in the high school gymnasium and were quiet and respectful, according to local veteran, David Smith.
“We received a standing ovation,” said Smith. “They wouldn’t stop clapping.”
“I have really good relationships with most students in the building. I know you have different goals and different opinions but there is one common thread – which is you’re allowed to have your opinions, education, and your own paths because of our veterans,” said RHS Principal Brandon Quick.
“There are sacrifices they’ve given so we may live in our country where we are able to have our own path and beliefs. Today, that’s what I want you to remember – no matter who you are or your beliefs, you’re allowed to have them because of these people right here sitting in these chairs,” said Quick.
