Spartan greats return for hall of fame induction

The halls of Richmond High School will echo once again with the names of athletes whose records and reputations still linger long after the final whistle. On June 7, memories will take center stage during the Richmond Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony, as six inductees spanning five decades are honored for achievements that shaped the legacy of Spartan athletics. Hosted in the Richmond High School commons, the evening will begin with a social hour at 5:30 p.m., followed by the formal ceremony. A $5 donation is requested at the door, supporting the Richmond Athletic Hall of Fame Scholarship Fund, which awards two scholarships each year to graduating student-athletes. Though no meal will be served, the night promises to be rich with stories, gratitude and reflection. Among this year’s honorees is Derek Compton, a 2003 graduate who brought a rare mix of power and precision to three sports.
