Senior center remains closed

RICHMOND – Senior Center Director Pat Mills said she does not know when the center will be ready physically to reopen and, when ready, when people can enter. Reopening depends on the completion of renovations, and entry depends on the COVID-19 Delta variant. Renovations at the center have included painting, stripping tile from the floor and covering the floor with epoxy. “We got flooring down,” Mills said last week. “The progress is there, but it is really slow. The epoxy’s down. We are now waiting on the plumber to come and put the plumbing and the toilet stools back in.” Stalls are needed in the bathroom, she said, along with some general “finishing work.” Because of the incomplete work, the restrooms could not be used when Ray County Fair participants occupied the building in August to show exhibits and small animals.
