Richmond man denied bond in shooting case

A Richmond man accused of firing multiple gunshots at a relative continues to be held without bond after a Ray County judge found no conditions would ensure the safety of the community. Ethan S. Hendricks, 26, is facing three felony charges, including first-degree domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. Hendricks recently appeared by video for a bond hearing with his public defender, Rebecca Abeln, before Eighth Judicial Circuit Court Judge J. Bartley Spear Jr. In the court’s entry, Spear stated Hendricks appeared to be indigent and there was no evidence regarding Hendricks’ likelihood of appearing for future court proceedings. Spear identified the safety of crime victims and witnesses as being at high risk, noting the offense involved Hendricks firing a pistol multiple times at a relative, which he considered to be of above-average severity.
