RAY RECORDS 2 COVID DEATHS

RICHMOND – The Kansas City Region COVID-19 Data Hub on the Mid-American Regional Council’s website posted two Ray County deaths. Ray County Health Department Director Shelby Spor could not be reached for comment, including about the virus victims’ ages and communities. Ray County Presiding Commissioner Bob King said he did not have confirmation of the deaths or think about the possibility of the number being posted by the health department until contacted by this newspaper. “We heard it through the grapevine,” he said. One death is too many, but the county is fortunate not to have had more, based on 183 total cases, King said. He credited county residents for using good judgment to avoid contracting the virus, though people elsewhere seem frustrated by the virus and have been lax in their prevention approach. “People get so fed up after a while that they just open up and do whatever they want, but I don’t think that’s really happening in Ray County,” King said. “Our family washes…
