Richmond Police Chief Scott Bagley recognized some of his officers with awards during an early February Richmond City Council meeting. With Richmond officers lining the rows of seating, Bagley gave Officers Derek Gardner and Brandon Peet the Life Saving Commendations and presented Corporal Tommy Rodriguez with the “2023 Officer of the Year Award.” The chief said the Life-Saving Commendation award not only represents what the officers do, but also their potential to save a person’s life. Bagley shared a scene from May 2, 2023, where Peet saved a life. “He responded to a medical call about an individual who had stopped breathing and was without a pulse. On arrival, Peet and the individuals of the residence located a person lying on the floor and Peet immediately began CPR on the individual,” said Bagley. “After eight chest compressions, Peet was able to re-establish a pulse and restored the person’s respiratory function before EMS’ arrival and Life Flight.” Bagley said Peet was…
