New SNS hire connects community with music

With the goal of putting music back into the community, Special Needs Services (SNS) of Ray County participated in the Community at Play (CAP) Community Choir event inside the Ray County Library. Along with a new program, SNS board members hired Sydney Winders, 25, as their new board-certified music therapist. She received her master’s degree at Drury University in Springfield, Mo. and is currently working on her master’s – after she’ll have a master’s in music therapy. Tuning her instruments and preparing her presentation, she said she recently moved from the Kansas City metro area and is now a Richmond resident. “I’m really looking forward to meeting residents, collaborating and making my own musician friends with people,” she added. Winders expressed her excitement before the music event began. “We’ll sing all sorts of songs. I’m really excited to meet people through this event tonight,” she said.
