Mission Richmond underway
Sharing a common goal of making lives easier for those in need and strengthening bonds in the community, the churches of Richmond Ministerial Alliance are joining together for a week of service projects throughout the community.
Groups of volunteers gather at the First Baptist Church each day at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. to receive assignments for the day.
“There are assignments for every age and ability, with times to accommodate most peoples work schedules,” Pastor Willie Isaacson said.
Monday’s service projects included repairing a fence at the fairgrounds, visiting residence at Shirkey Nursing and Rehab, bagging information and a DVD, passing out door hangers to resident’s homes, mowing lawns and repairing a ramp.
“We are building more than just ramps and mowing lawns,” Isaacson said. “We are building relationships and a sense of community. Each act of service is a step toward a stronger, more compassionate community like we used to have.”
