Richmond City Council recently approved the purchase of license plate recognition (LPRs) cameras, with a price tag of $25,850, which will be installed at all entry and exit points in the city. Changes were made to the master agreement with Flock Safety Solutions in October 2023 after Richmond City Police Chief Scott Bagley discovered a price drop for pole mounting. The price decrease allowed the chief to add two additional LPRs with just a small increase in the total cost. “With that being said, I’d like to request that we approve the Master Agreement for $25,850. The difference is for two additional cameras for $1,350, which I would like to pay out of our donation fund,” said Bagley. “That’s going to be the only charge from the city and next year.
