If $5,000 goal reached, staff sleeps on RHS roof
Raising $5,000 for local students’ foodrelated challenges is a goal for the Richmond R-XVI School District this holiday season. Richmond High School (RHS) Principal Brandon Quick explained RHS National Honor Society (NHS) students set up a fundraiser called “Raise the Roof” to help those in need. The fundraiser begins Dec. 4 and ends Dec. 15.
If the full $5,000 was raised, Quick, RHS Assistant Principal Matt Habermehl and middle school administrators would set up camp on the high school roof.
“We will greet the kids on the roof the next morning on Dec. 20,” said Habermehl.
“We’ve done it in the past, we helped families in town if they couldn’t afford utilities, food, etc. This time around we really want to focus on food costs. It could be inhibiting families of a meal, or helping out with a grocery bill during the holidays,” Quick said.
He stated if a student needed a coat, this specific funding would help.
