Garden-grown potatoes anchor cooking event
Potatoes fresh from the garden took the spotlight at a community cooking demonstration hosted by Special Needs Services (SNS) at the Ray County Library in Richmond.
Held as part of the Community Connections series, the event provided participants with an opportunity to learn simple, healthy recipes using vegetables grown in the organization’s community garden located on Southpoint Drive. Staff from SNS demonstrated preparation methods, shared their own health journeys and distributed samples as attendees followed along with recipe cards and casual instruction.
SNS Director Suzan Breen noted she and SNS Office Manager Katie Jones had been involved since the start of the program, with SNS staff Stephen Arnold now playing a regular role in its growth. Participants in the Stabi- lization Support Services Project also contribute as volunteers in the garden and kitchen.
