Three Ray County teens were honored with a unique distinction which blends leadership, character and service, earning them the Harold Strobel “Citizen of Service” Award. Carsey Calvert, Will Robinson and Cash Honeycutt were named recipients of the award, which comes with a $250 prize and recognizes local youth for exceptional involvement in 4-H or Future Farmers of America (FFA) and dedication to their communities. Nominees must be between the ages of 16 and 18, show a willingness to serve and demonstrate strong character. The award was created 10 years ago by Fraizer Letzig in memory of Harold Strobel, a local figure active in 4-H, the chamber and junior chamber. The selection committee is composed of past adult and business winners of the Strobel Citizen of Service Award, who convene annually to choose new youth recipients. “He was a good guy, honest and a fierce competitor,” Letzig said of Strobel.
